What to Do in Las Vegas

Las Vegas is known for its casinos, Elvis impersonators and quicky weddings. But you might not realize there is so many other things to do right in the heart of the desert. Here are three cool things to check out next time you are in Sin City. But always remember to put a quarter or two in the slot machines, just for traditions sake.

First there are more than card sharks in Vegas. Visitors to the Mandalay Bay’s aquarium can see real swimming sharks and if you are SCUBA certified you can swim right alongside them in the tank! Sharks, sea turtles and other sea life is right at your fingertips. This resort is created to take guests under the sea to get a glimpse of ocean life and features 14 exhibits with dangerous predators. There is even a touch pool where guests can “touch” a variety of animals like crabs, sharks and other fish. This will add an educational, interactive and a bit “fishy” edge to any vacation.

Next, car enthusiasts will love the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Guests can get in the driver’s seat of a 600 horse power NASCAR stock car if they have a need for speed. Guests can actually drive the car or ride shotgun with an instructor form the Richard Petty Driving Experience. These ride alongs are extremely popular and reservations are recommended. Drivers will reach to speeds of up to 155 heart pounding miles per hour on the speedway in the 1.5 mile tri-oval where the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and Nationwide Series are held. This experience is not for the faint of heart, but for those who love racing.

Get a thrill another way by hitting the VooDoo ZipLine on top of Rio’s Masquerade Tower that sends riders flying higher than 400 feet in the Las Vegas air. And it zips right along at amazing speeds of 33 miles per hour right over the Las Vegas Strip! The ride only lasts a little over a minute, but the extraordinary ride in the sky has a unique twist. The trip back to the starting point faces riders backwards, sending the senses toppling. The VooDoo ZipLine also offers riders an exclusive sight of Las Vegas with spectacular 360 degree views of the strip. Plus riders 21 and older are invited to have a drink or two at the VooDoo Rooftop Nightclub and Lounge, some say is the hottest spot, certainly one of the highest on the strip.

Maybe you want a more relaxing experience and wine tasting is your passion. Then Rio’s Wine Cellar and Tasting Room is for you. You won’t be taking any gamble when you experience one of the country’s most impressive wine collections. This cellar features more than 10,000 bottles that are worth more than $10 million! The rustic, vintage atmosphere will intoxicate you as well as the collection itself. Enjoy the bar too and sip your choice of vino. Pair your wine with tasty foods that are included on their wine pairing menus including hard to find international cheeses, freshly baked breads and fare. Schedule a wine tasting party and spend the day at Rio’s Wine Cellar. The door is always open.
